If you haven't seen the new Bernina 830 sewing and embroidery system yet, you MUST come by New Bern Fabric Center to view this marvel of technology that gives you the space, the speed, the power and the ergonomics to create projects that, until now, you could only dream about.
With the Bernina 830, you can embroider 1,000 stitches per minute and sew at up to 1,100 stitches per minute--no other home sewing system is faster! And the optional jumbo hoop gives you the most space for embroidery without re-hooping, turning or rotating. The 830 offers twice the space of a standard sewing machine and 50% more space than the largest top of the line machine. It has a 15 inch extended arm (with a full 12 inches to the right of the needle!) that will make quilting even the largest quilt a breeze. And you can embroider at least 40% longer before having to rewind the bobbin! The innovative Bernina Dual Feed is built-in to the 830 to provide the most control with hard to manage fabrics like tricot, velvet, ribbons or lots of layers. And the patented Bernina Stitch Regulator makes free motion quilting a delight. The thread delivery system features a multi-spool vertical holder and telescoping guide to make for the smoothest thread release possible combined with a fully automatic threading system.

Hey new sewers! We are resuming the Basic Sewing classes on Monday nights from 6pm to 9pm on January 12th! Carole is again offering her Evening Smocking class for six weeks beginning Monday night January 12, 2009 through February 16th. The Day Smocking class will begin Tuesday January 13, 2009 from 9:30-noon for six weeks. Evening Heirloom class begins Tuesday, January 13th through February 17, 2009 from 6-9pm. Reserve your spot now! To see all our classes, click on CLASSES in the menu on the upper left corner of this page...And if you want to learn something that we don't have listed, just call us! We will see if we can get that project or technique added to our schedule.
Pull out and mark your calendars for Bernina Club, which meets on the last Saturday of each month at 10am (except for November & December.) We always demonstrate a neat technique or fantastic Bernina product that will enhance your sewing/embroidery experience. Handouts are included, along with refreshments, fun, fellowship, plus the Bernina Club Day discount on Bernina accessories. Learn a new technique, discover a project you can't wait to try, bring your newest project to Show and Tell, and have fun with your sewing friends!
Kari, our embroidery software expert, will be offering the Version 5 software class again later this winter. These are free for all who purchased their embroidery software from New Bern Fabric; folks who purchased elsewhere are also welcome for a small fee based on the level of your software. Please call Kari to schedule your class (based on your software level.)
"Embroidery Take-Out" Designs are available in our store--just see one of our staff! Come in and choose a design pack or select your own individual designs from Embroidery Take-Out and we will download your designs in any format on a card, floppy or CD.
